I have always loved stories. Any kind of story; it doesn’t matter whether it’s a thirty second advert or a three hour film, a song or a book – I’ll follow it avidly. As I said, I love stories.
Being the daughter of a Roman archaeologist I had a bohemian childhood. I remember when I was six and we were living for a few months in the Sahara, my mother gave me my first notebook. It had a bright yellow border and Rupert the Bear striding along the cover and so I began writing…
Engaged at eighteen, married at nineteen I arrived at University an oddity, with a husband and cat. I left University as a teacher and I’ve spent the better part of twenty years teaching and tutoring before finally coming out of my writing closet. I’m a proud mother who has been married, divorced and widowed. I’ve learnt that life can be very cruel and I know what it’s like to lose everything. Equally, it’s taught me that at the core of life is love, friendship and hope.
I’ve always written and I know I always will. If I don’t my characters take over my mind – it’s how Stour started.
And…As I may have mentioned…I love stories but even better – I love telling them!
