Bacchus was the Roman name for the Greek God Dionysus. He was the God of wine and having a good time but he was also the God of theatre. In other words – telling stories. The Greeks would perform plays as a way to celebrate him.
I’m a Classics geek at heart (it’s the consequence of having a father who was a Roman archaeologist). That, plus the appeal of some good old fashioned alliteration, is the reason why I’ve called my imprint Bacchic Books.
It was one of his symbols and I have heard that some people do like to curl up with a glass of wine while reading…
